          Lt. Lyons shown here with five of his seven brothers in front of the Lyons family residence at 400 Lee Street, Biloxi, Mississippi.  (L-R) 2nd Lt. Joseph T., John, Robert (Bobby), William (Billy), and Corporal Matthew (Matt).  Standing in front of his big boys is Steven (age 5).  Not in the picture are brothers Kenneth and James.
     Lt. Lyons was discharged from the enlisted ranks November 4th, 1942 at Fort Sill OK.  The next day, November 5th, 1942 he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant also at Fort Sill.  Three days later, November 8th he was married and then he was off to Fort Benning and the 244th F.A. Battalion.
