Pvt. Norman J. Reeves. Pvt. Reeves came to the 244th as a S/Sgt. and was one of the original eight enlisted men and five officers chosen from the 172nd Field Artillery Battalion transferred to Camp Shelby to activate the 244th F.A. Bn.

On November 14th captured weapons were turned over to the 244th Field Artillery Battalion. The Artillery was to be used against the German held forts around the Metz area
The difficulty encountered early on with captured German guns was the lack of sights.
